Legal Tips for Travellers

27 July 2015

When it comes to holidays it is an exciting and busy time, but it is so important to make sure you buy travel insurance before you travel abroad. We recommend you take out adequate travel insurance which has legal expenses and medical cover.

Many of us will travel abroad, have a great holiday and return home eager to book next year’s holiday. However, for some it’s not the happy relaxed experience they were hoping for. Unfortunately, some people will suffer the trauma of accidents and injuries abroad and all the problems this brings.

If you are involved in an accident abroad, make sure that you have your travel insurance policy to hand. Insurance companies provide 24 hour helplines, providing you with details of your medical cover and offer initial legal advice. If your incident did not leave you too injured or distressed try to take photos at the scene and make notes of what happened.

If you are unfortunate to be involved in an accident or witness one, contact your local British Embassy or Consulate for further advice. They can also help with introductions to reputable local lawyers who can act on your behalf.

If you have had an accident in Spain and would like to talk to one of our solicitors then please contact us for an initial discussion.
